Firm Overview

BLA Schwartz’s principal, Irwin Schwartz, started practice in 1986 at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom LLP in New York City. In 1994, after moving to Skadden’s San Francisco and Boston offices, he formed his own boutique litigation firm to be a complement to big firm practice.

BLA Schwartz combines big firm experience with small firm attention, providing high quality litigation services that the big firms offer at significantly lower rates. We accomplish this by minimizing expenses and staying focused on our clients’ business objectives and the costs to deliver them. Our internal administrative policies avoid pressure points – such as minimum billable hour requirements – that can increase client costs. Instead, our clients get hands-on partner attention and legal counsel based on years of experience in complex commercial litigation and dispute resolution.

BLA Schwartz frequently serves as co-counsel or goes toe-to-toe with the largest regional and national firms. Our track record shows that we’re capable of the challenge. We find that our rate structure and efficient approach to handling of cases results in total fees that are less than half of that of the big firms.
